1. Data Collection & Storage
We believe in privacy by default. TubeProgress does not collect, sell, or transmit any personal data to external servers.
- Local Storage: All your progress data (video IDs, timestamps, completion status) is stored entirely on your device using
chrome.storage.local. - Sync Storage: If enabled, Chrome's built-in Sync capabilities (
chrome.storage.sync) synchronize settings across your signed-in browsers through Google's encrypted sync servers.
2. Extension Permissions Explained
We request only the permissions strictly necessary for the extension functionality on YouTube:
storage Required to save your playlist progress, speed choices, and custom tags locally.
scripting & activeTab Used to calculate completion percentages and inject the progress HUD onto YouTube playlist pages.
host_permissions (*://*.youtube.com/*) Strictly restricted to YouTube domains. TubeProgress cannot view or run on any other websites.
3. Zero Telemetry & No Tracking
We do NOT track your browsing history outside of YouTube. We do NOT use Google Analytics or third-party telemetry services. Your usage data never leaves your device.
